Hi! I am 18 years old and a senior at Highland Park High School in Highland Park, Illinois. I am involved in many Jewish communal programs such as Voices: The Chicago Teen Foundation, JCFS Operation Snowball, and Springboard Peer Ambassadors. I have been playing travel soccer since 2nd grade and played for the Highland Park soccer team for the past two years. At school, I have been involved in HPTV, my school’s announcements club, as well as Fashion Club. I am also involved in DECA, where I will recently placed first in Illinois and first in my region in the Virtual Business – Fashion Track competition. I will be competing at DECA Internationals in April 2023 in Florida. Additionally, I was an overnight camp counselor at Camp Chi last year and will be a counselor again this summer, making it my 8th summer at my home away from home.
Additionally, I am the founder of my own charity, Poshmark For Change, which is dedicated to raising money for those in need and helping save the environment by keeping clothes out of landfills and encouraging second-hand shopping. I have helped spearhead Poshmark For Change’s latest campaign towards raising money for Chicago Therapy Collective, a non-profit that focuses on eradicating Trans communities’ health disparities. Running the non-profit’s social media pages made me realize that using graphic design to communicate issues is an excellent tool to reach others for educational & philanthropic purposes.
Next fall, I will be attending Pitzer College in Claremont, CA. As a prospective Media Studies major, I am excited to expand my knowledge & passion for using media to promote discourse & action surrounding social issues. I look forward to taking classes like “Media Arts For Social Justice” at Pitzer. I‘m captivated by fashion, & my goal is to work in business & social media, using what I learn regarding sustainability, cultural immersion, & moral implications to help transform the fashion industry into a more sustainable, humane, & justice-centered industry. I am passionate about making a difference in my community, from fighting to end fast fashion to advocating for LGBTQIA+ rights, and I am excited to expand my impact in years to come.
